Can someone please explain all the traditional steps (as they did in the 50s and 60s, don't know if the method has changed) from bare wood guitar body to a nitro finished guitar body?

Someone told me even the old 60s Fender guitars have a polyester sealer underneath the nitro finish, but I don't believe that.

Cleve has a great tutorial in the How To Sticky. No guarantee that he uses Fender's method, but it should suit your needs. Leo was all about efficiency when in production and there is <1% chance that polyester was used due to the short pot life and intensive cleaning. Nitro was used because the auto industry was using it as a fast finish.
