NJ4 vs. Antiquity II

You could check out the Jazz bass replacement pickups megathread. Both are supposed to be pretty vintage sounding. I have SDAIIs in my Jazz and I love them, general I hear good things about the NJ4s as well though.

Well, funny you should ask. I just swapped out some Ant IIs for some NJ4s.

IME:

The Antiquity IIs have more voicing - thicker lows I'd say. (I've heard they can vary from set to set.)

The NJ4s seem more natural and straight-ahead. The covers are rounded, which makes them look subtly different but they're comfier on the fingers.

The Ant IIs could certainly rock out. But personally, I'm enjoying the NJ4s a little more. To me they seem more useful and distinct when soloed. I was using just the neck pickup about 90% of the time on the gig the other night and was loving it.

Absolutely YMMV.
