No output on bass

Hey there, I've got a Fender Jazz deluxe 24 with the basslines pickups and there is no output. I took it to my local music shop and they said they'd have to replace the circuit board. Apparently this will cost a lot.
So, I was wondering: Should I replace the pickups or the circuit board?

If the preamp's circuit board needs to be replaced, replacing the pickups instead won't accomplish anything unless you plan on converting it to a passive bass.

If you want to keep it active, you need a new preamp if tge shop says it can't be repaired. And IMO there are much better preamps than the ones Fender puts in their basses. So if you are getting a new preamp, check the forum for other discussions about the merits of various other brands and models before you spend your money.

FWIW, I've come to prefer passive over active.
