Double Bass No sound coming from setup… any ideas?

Just got one of Arnopol’s 8” speakers and before I had got a Demeter Minnie… I hadn’t had a chance to test the Minnie (bought used some time back as I had no speaker) and I am getting no sound … using just a simple fdeck preamp to test.. blue light goes on on the Minnie although the fan doesn’t seem to move… absolutely no sound whatsoever coming out… any ideas??

Fan on off switch yes… but fan doesn’t turn on

There is a good chance the fan is activated by temperature and will not come on until the amp gets hot enough.

Check your cables. Try another amp. Try a different signal source. Try another speaker.

The input to the Minnie is line level. Your HPF should be able to push it, but I am pretty sure there is not enough gain to push it to full power. You need something else in your signal path the jump up the level.

Pete,

I bought a Minnie about three months ago from Bass Central and same thing - no sound. I have several other amps to do testing and then called Jim Demeter directly, sent it to his shop in CA. He confirmed it was a bad power module and sent me ( about a month ago) what he said was his last one… and supply chain issues left him not knowing when more would be available. I suggest giving him a call - nice guy. Best of luck.

Hopefully those supply chain issues will resolve themselves over time, best of luck. I always liked the size of the Minnie 800D, but I went with a Monique M700 I purchased used here on Talkbass. Surely Jim will be able to source a alternate power supply. I really love the sound and size of Mikes MAS 1/8 I hope you get to experience that soon.
