So I have an Ibanez active fretless bass, that has some issues with the wiring. I'll be taking it in to be looked at, but it now causes a buzz through the amp that gets quite loud when the amp is turned up. Now, the bass still plays, and the tone is quite good, the buzz is just distracting. This is where it gets weird though- It wont play through pedals! I have a DI and a compressor, both work fine with my other bass (also active), but it completely cuts the signal of the fretless to the amp. Even with the pedals bypassed, no signal reaches the amp, but I get sound plugged direct to the amp. Has anybody else ever experienced something so nonsensical? I just don't understand why even a bypassed pedal would cause signal from this bass only to the amp. And trust me, I've tried many combinations, different amps, other people's pedals, and it's all the same story.
