NOBD Gibson rare pr0n!

Today was a good day.

The Long Story:
I am trying to build my own bass in a public workshop. They open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 8pm. I was yesterday there. I usually rehearse with my band Thursdays after 9, that means I had time to kill in between, so I went to a local store that is aptly named "rare guitar". I drank a beer and talked to the owner, he told me he had just bought a collection of instruments from a recently deceased musician and he was cataloging it for his web page. I went behind the counter to look at his monitor and then it hit me: There was a picture of a marvelous Nature Gibson RD Standard, the RD has always been one of my unicorns, I recently regretted passing on a Krist Novoselic RD reissue. But this was the real deal! And the price was reasonable (although I don't have any money right now). The owner told me the bass was already in the showroom and I went right away and took it from the wall. It is almost impeccable!
So I told him that I'd be there today if he would accept one of my jaguars as a down payment.
And here it is:

Is there a club? :D

The guy who sold it to me praised it as light, I now see he was right. I rehearsed with it yesterday for the first time. I did feel the weight since the bass is HUGE but I could manage it, since it IS really good balanced. Our guitar player gave it a go and he said the neck feels infinitely long, I had the same feeling (the first time I played it at home I was always landing two frets up to where I wanted to play) but it takes nothing to get used to it.
And then there it was: The Sound!
Coming out of my AD200B it was thump and cream, and she loves my big muff!
I ended the rehearsal asking myself if she's the one, I got so many compliments from my bandmates for the sound. I love my Fenders, and I'm in no way bashing on them, but this beauty is in another world!

Congrats! What a great score. Looks to be in amazing shape, too.
I had never heard of the RD, so I looked them up on the interwebs. I found a couple of basic links and I thought I would share them. First was: Buying Vintage Guitars - Gibson RD Published by mattbedrock and the second one was from Fly Guitars, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].
They sound very cool.
Enjoy!
