Noisy EQ on an old Trace Elliot GP7 combo

Hi
I’m using it for years and recently, a noise (kind of White noise) appears sometimes and it disapears when I turn the EQ off.
I tried to spray contact cleaner but it doesn’t help.

The attached photo show the internal plate for reference

Any idea ?

Hopefully you haven’t now ruined your sliders, which as you discovered have nothing to do with the noise.

With all of the sliders set to flat (the center position), when you switch the new in, there should be a slight increase in noise, just barely perceptible. As the sliders are raised (and in some circuits lowered), that noise will increase some.

Are you sure you had an issue originally?

Hi Agedhorse

I own this amp for roughly 15 years and until now, no problems.

Today, I wanted to make a short reel resuming the topic but EQ seems to be dead…

EQ Off, amp works, EQ on, no sound…

I will try to find a spare part with finger crossed 😂

Tx

You might want to try proper diagnostics and troubleshooting, your odds will be better and you will cause less damage in the process..,
