Non-Bartolini MTD Super 5 Upgrades???

I know there's an upgrade (via MTD) for the pickups, preamp, hardware for the MTD Super 5. But, has anyone found a non-Bartolini (pickup/preamp) upgrade for the Super 5? And if so, are the replacement pickups compatible with the series/single coil/parallel switches, or are the MTD and Bartolini pickups special in that they accept this type of switch (built to accommodate the switches)? I've used Nordstrand pickups and preamp on my Gouche 5 string and it really made it more suitable to rock n roll music. I found the Bartolini pickups originally on the Gouche got very buried in the mix on stage (my opinion). Thanks for any input on alternative upgrades for the Super 5.

I think that not every MM pickup is suited for series/single/parallel switching but Nordstrand specifically mentions that capability in their description, so if you wanted to go that direction again it would be a safe bet.
