How much of that price is because it says "Marshall" on the front? I'd be looking for a used Peavey TNT combo or even a Crate combo. Something with a 15. Not top shelf names but damn good amps for the money.

Well, at normal price it's at least double that + good reviews +.. well, it's puuurty cheap for the amount of watts! 180 for 300! The best new price i could find was 200 for 300, and that was a Behringer which everyone whinges about...

I have a friend who uses the behringer you posted the link too earlier, he uses it on gigs alot and it actually sounds pretty good, try one out if you can and if it sounds good to you and you like it, buy it, who cares if everyone else hates them

You don't have to spend a ton of cash to get a half-decent amp that'll give you some room for growth.

I just picked up a used Peavey Mark VI and a GK 15" cab for $200, not much more than you're looking to spend on a new behringer. The peavey has plenty more watts up its sleeve (can get down to 2 ohms), made in the US, and is built like a tank. On the other hand, any behringer or other similar amp is probably going to burn itself out in the first 6 months.

1) 400 @ 2 ohms, 250 @ 4

2) Combos just put unnecessary limitations on your rig. Look for a head and cab.

Why not??? I used to do precisely that on a Crossville double decker bus!

That particular combo gives you the CD in, the headphone out, and it's definitely loud enough for rehearsals with a drummer.

Also, you have the option of adding a second 4 ohm cabinet with it such as the MBC410, which is the 4x10 cab in the same series. That would result in 450w at 2 ohms, which the amp is rated for, and essentially a 6x10 cab.

Yeah dude, I think you're on the right track. Only thing to point out is that the combo is 33kg/72lbs. That's a doable weight, but be careful. It's bigger and heavier than it looks in the pictures

also, are all combos at 8ohms impedence as they are?

OK WELL I'm going to meet this guy this evening and hopefully I'll come back 33kg heavier.
and no I'm not going to eat him, I meant the amp, geez.
He'd have to be pretty small to weigh that anyway.
