Nordstrand big singles in an Ibanez multiscale

Long shot maybe, but has anyone here tried putting a nordstrand big single in an ibanez multiscale bass? The complications I'm anticipating are

1. the pickups slots are not parrallel to the fretboard and
2. the pole piece on the nordstrand pickup are angled too.

I'm not sure how to measure or estimate this. Does someone have a good method? Thanks!

At first, I guess, that your bass has native Bartolini BH1, so they are different dimension than Nordstrand (Bart P2). That to swap you must to do custom housing for Nordstrands P2 coils. And if you are insist to do that just measure distance between strings in pickup angle bridge and neck position and contact straight to Nordstrand. They are always answering any questions in several days. Good luck

Uh, they’re right in front of you - measure your bass

If dimensions and string spacing works out, angled poles should work fine - that’s what ESP uses on their fanned fret basses...

Call Stew at Nordstrand. If it's a SRFF806 you're in luck, i had it done last year, he has the dimensions. If not, measure the pickup dimensions, the string to string distance (center to center), and the angle of the slant relative to the neck centerline ( for each pickup as the angle is different for each p/u.

Ibanez had used the Nordstrand Big Singles on their multi-scale bass too. It came out in late 2014/early 2015 before ESP came out with their version of multi-scale bass. The model was Japanese made SRFF4505 Prestige:

Do you like the bass but want to try a different tone? I was considering one of these. Are the BH2 pickups too smooth or not enough mid presence?

Love the bass, at 1k it's a tremendously crafted chunk of wood. I'm not wild about thethe Bar and I'm starting to think maybe I just am not crazy about pickups featuring blades rather than pole pieces. They are smooth in ways that I personally am not crazy about 80% of the time.

Also I just bought a second bass featuring humbuckers (2019 Ibanez premium w Aguilar super doubles). So I wouldnt mind adding something with a J sound to my toolkit.

I thought I'd found my bliss when I saw the LTD Multi-Scale 4-string models, & then found out they're almost 10 lbs.

Nope. Only that 1 particular model on the SRFF Prestige line. Never been any 4 string nor 6 string version has ever available.

Not sure what the srms800, but it's probably not 10lbs. You could buy and modify one if you really had your heart set on a multiscale ibby with big singles

If you don't like single-coil noise, get the Big Splits instead.
