Here's what I did.. and this works for the Archer C7.. can't say for other routers..
Bought one of these, mic stand mountable..

Attached it to the back of the router. You can see the threads of the stand mount in top half of pic.

and held it in place with 2 x 12" elastic ties

Ah, I snagged a femail adapter that accepts mic stand thread, screwed that onto a piece of oak - oak sounds better you know ;-) zip tied the router to the thing...

That's great, 4mal, and thanx for sharing. I wish I had thought of posting my solution, which is similar to yours.

WIFI range is a question I get on a regular basis and my first question is "how high is your router elevated?". That usually gets me a funny look and a "oh, yeah, I need to try something..."....

Mal, got a link to that part that threads onto the stand? I've been thinking about how to rig something up using a mic clip, but haven't taken any action on it yet. Your idea looks better, although I might go with alder for added warmth.

I place our Apple Airport Express on top of my cabs, beside my amp, and have never had a problem with range.

I have however, had people at the venue ask me for the password, thinking that they can access free wifi!

WE seldom use our own PA as most places we play have it provided by the House... tho' in 70% we do run our own FOH (remote via iPad - thanks to the network) and have it mix'ed by FOH the other 30%.
Either way, that router is needed so we can run our IEM and wedge mixes.. so it had to find a home somewhere other than atop the PA.
It lives on the mic stand behind the console - as seen above.
