nova pedals by tc

been looking at these pedals online as im looking to save some space on my pedal board and was wondering if anyone has tried these pedals out?

im looking to save some space on my board so i looked at the nova modulator first by combining my chorus, flanger etc into one pedal it would save me alot of room and this pedal would give me more effects to, like vibrato and trem (i might never use them but there there) also its got two effect engines(as they put it) so i can mix chorus with trem etc if i wanted? or have two chorus going at once, or six as they have tri chorus!

but im wondering if any of you guys have tried one out?

also i have got in to reverb on my bass recently and tc also do a reverb pedal in the nova series which looks and sounds awesome! lots of diferent types to choose from, so same question again really!? anyone tried it?

the alternatives that ive looked at are the line 6 mm4 (bigger than the nova pedals) and the boss rv-5. both are stereo outs and ins like the tc stuff.

so what you think?

I once owned the big TC multi, and have played around with the smaller units. It's gonna come down to your ears, and that's it. My ears were not impressed, and I continue to lug around different boards for different purposes. I have yet to hear a "multi" unit that sounds as good or better than the singles I own- but of course, ymmv. You should audition these units BEFORE laying down your cash if at all possible. I do like the idea of a muti unit, but so far none have impressed me enough to give up the pile of singles.

I own the Nova Repeater (delay), and I'm very happy with it.

It is very well built, well designed and has a ton of functions. It is not too big, sounds great, and hasn't caused me any problems in the two years I own it. I feel it is relatively cheap considering the features and quality. I wouldn't hesitate getting another Nova pedal.

Of course, it is digital, which might be a good thing or not depending on the type of effect and the sound you are after.

Ditto. I had a Nova Modulator but had to sell it because I just couldn't manage to squeeze it into the board I wanted to make. Probably the only dedicated modulation pedal I'd ever buy. I don't use the Nova Repeater but I've seen quite a few people make it sound beautiful on bass. Janek Gwizdala is the first that comes to mind. I think he also uses a Nova Drive. I have never played a Nova Reverb so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. I don't think the Nova Reverb is worth the, pedalboard real estate nor the power that it demands (300mA @ 12V DC). I'm sure it sounds great but from the looks of it, the Hall of Fame reverb does just about everything the Nova can with a bit less variation. It has a small footprint, doesn't require as much juice and sounds fantastic. If you want a true heavy hitting reverb I'd look at the Strymon BlueSky or Eventide Space.

cool yeh the reverb is a large pedal but i like that i could get two reverbs, the power consumption isnt really a prob. i have seen the eventide and its amazing but the price is a bit much, could almost get both the tc pedals for it. the blue sky is maybe a bit extreme but a very nice pedal but not for me.

the modulator looks like a def buy or atleast try as i believe my local guitar shop has some in stock! so maybe take a trip up soon. my only concern is how easy is it to change preset? is it an easy motion or not?

tbh i hadn't thought of the delay as ive got an ehx memory boy which i love! and by getting a dedicated reverb pedal it would allow me to make the most of it! but the problem comes when i think my idea for my new rig will need most things to be stereo! but we'll see in a few months when i can afford to start putting it together!

The Repeater has stereo capacity, and a very cool ping-pong delay!
The memory boy is analog, so the repeater can give you a different sound as a digital delay. And the most interesting and functional extra feature (which is rare with affordable delays): tap tempo!

indeed but i think im gonna get a slightly bigger board and put a 4 plug extension lead on it, then i can use the pedals own power supplies.

as im not sure that my diago power supply can do 12v?

at the minute im thinking that ill hopefully get the modulator and delay in the nova pedals, and i dnt know whether to get the nova reverb or the hall of fame pedal?

As far as reverb goes, if you really want to run two at once I'd recommend getting two separate, very different reverbs so you can really mix and match sounds. I'm going out on a limb here but if you want to use two reverbs at once I'm guessing you'd want so cool ambient sounds and while I'm sure the Nova Reverb is no slouch, there are more fun reverbs out there to mess with for soundscaping.

no im really only looking to run 1 reverb at a time, but having two verbs to choose from in kick in a more intense reverb without having to change the pedal setting is what i can see being usefull.

Speaking of the power issue, is it possible to use the T-rex current doubler out of outputs 5&6 of the BBE supa charger (each at 200mA) in order to get the required current? It would still be at 9v, but I'm sure they can run from 9-12v. Anyone know about this? I can send a link to the T-rex current doubler if you'd like. I just desperately want the nova repeater.
