Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen

Just started listening to this band, and damn are they ever good. Heavy, with tonnes of harmonies, kinda reminds me of a heavier version of Iron Maiden. The singer is great, even when he screams. Check this band out if you haven't!

The new album "City of Evil" is quite a turn. Points for expanding their sound, but some fans of their more straight-ahead stuff won't dig it. It's more melodic, kinda "power metal" now - almost Gamma Ray in parts. No harsh vocals, 'cause he burst some blood vessels in his neck. Given he can sing well, I think that's a bonus for them that helps 'em stand out from the pack.

Thanks for the pointers. Melodic is good (big Maiden/In Flames/At The Gates/Thrice fan) and though I did like the more harsh vocals, I also really like his voice when singing clean. I think I may buy this album if I see it.
