So after looking around and asking around here, I decided to give the Southampton 5th gear a shot. Earlier in the Week a got a good deal on a TC spark to give me the option to push the pedal more or tweak he EQ a bit. The pedal cam in a protective bag, In a box wrapped in paper then boxed again. Short of steel cladding its a bout as protective as you can get.
I didn't have a lot of time with the pedal i just picked it up and got in the door however i ran right over to my MIA jazz plugged them into a GB contour 500 and it wounded wonderful. Lots of low gain goodness sounds on tap and the pedal really reacts to how hard and softly you pluck the strings. when you dig in it certainly gets angrier. Very happy with this pedal

Heat: Increasing the temperature increases effect rates between the dry signal and the clipping, increasing the saturation of high-energy sonic collisions. It is these collisions (possessing at least the activation energy for the effect) which result in the effect.

In other words, I've no clue.

But...

If you go to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], all is explained:
"Use the HEAT knob to change the characteristic of your drive sound, or to push the overdrive into a huge wall of distortion. With the GAIN control below noon, the HEAT knob changes the flavour of the sound. With higher GAIN, the HEAT knob adds saturation and sustain. The VOL knob is a passive volume filter, useful to tame the pedal when both GAIN and HEAT are turned up."

Like most ODs, it's inspired by an old pedal - the Electra distortion. We have swapped out some parts, and added two more controls.

The rest of ours are a mix of original designs (imposter, ATE, utility knife, indie dream), clones (Ictineo), and somewhere in between (boosted fuzz is a silicon rangemaster into a fuzz face. Very unique sounding but we didn't develop either circuit).
