NPD: MXR Bass DI+

I've been fighting against my iOS rig for quite some time, so I finally made the decision to go back to pedals.

I stopped using an amp a few years back, and run my signal DI to the PA. I use IEMs for monitoring.

Ordered this Saturday morning, delivered Sunday afternoon. Yay, Amazon!!

Digging it so far. Love the fact that my low end is back in my tone. The iOS rig really limited my EQ options, and the latency was killing me.

I can see that the next pedal I'm gonna need is a good compressor to level things out. Looking at several, including the Spectracomp and the M87.

Can't wait to try the M80 out at my next band practice.

I've had mine for a couple years now. I used to use a sansamp BDDI. I like the M80 better with its mid control and seperate OD.
Sounds good either into my amp or direct to house. I'm also shopping compressors and am leaning towards a Keeley Bassist based on Youtube demos.

The bass DI+ sounds great. Just don't use the color button and distortion section, those are poop.
As a preamp/DI it's great.

I actually like both the color and distortion.

Seems to sound great if you bump the mids a bit and set the blend low.

I use similar settings and use just a touch of distortion with blend low - works well. Plus with an amp, adding the M80 effect gives you an additional sound.

I like how clean the M80 is and while I don't use distortion, there are times when the clean tone with color works. I simply leave the blend low/off and have the ability to switch between color and no color on the fly using the distortion switch. This is definitely a nice alternative to the BDDI, especially if you're looking for a flatter tone curve and the ability to work the mids more easily.

I love mine, agree that the distortion isn't for me. Not that type of dirt, anyway
