I have and really like all of the pedals in that line, and all function fine on bass. Particularly noteworthy and what got me into 'em is the delay, which IMO, is a good-sounding tap-tempo at a very reasonable cost (altho' I only use that on gtr, I'll be using the chorus and mod pedals for recording bass, as well as the ODR-mini).
i use the spark as a clean boost to match volume with different basses. In my mind, running it before would have a more similar gain, so it would hit the Nobels similarly.
Yup, and the Spark is really good at clean boost, that's why I'm considering it or an Xotic EP Booster, but this one seems to have more "character". I just want to get rid of my bulky Markbass Super Booster, the boost is clean and somehow middley, nice for solos and indeed when I switch from active to passive basses too.
I'm sure to be heard in the mix, but the extra footswitch with the VLE and VPF filters and their knobs are not so much usefull now that I switched to an EWS Tri-Logic BP III to get that vintage low-mid with a lil' overdrive B15 like tone a la Jamerson. I was using the Markbass VLE filter for that purose, but now... not so much. And my pedalboard is... hmmm, massive !
My ODR-1 lives in front of any guitar amp I'm using. I once looked to see if Nobels made one voiced for bass. I must be mentally deficient because I didn't even think of sticking the old green box between a bass and an amp. Then I read this thread. How could I have been so stupid?! Wow! Grind and clarity. Beautiful.
I have the Wampler Belle and it's one of the best sounding of overdrive pedals I've ever played through. I've considered on several occasions buying a second. The Belle is a Nobels variant and honestly I bought it because of the size. Ive read a lot of commentary on the different Nobels versions and all of them seem to be extremely well liked. If I had more disposable income I'd grab one of those too.
