Arrived today from Curtis Novak:
  • 2 matched pairs BS/DS with coil taps (dark stars)
  • Charlie Christian P pickup
  • 2 Hum cancelling single coil '51 Ps
All looking very very good, can't wait to get them in and hear them.

I would LOVE to hear a review of his Charlie Christian P! It seems like such a cool pickup, and there is so little written about it, so few sound clips. The other pickups are definitely very cool as well, but I'll sub here for more word on the CC-P. :)

My plan for that is to put it in this Warmoth dinky P body, along with a neck '51 single coil and a Joe Barden hum cancelling J in the bridge:

I'm also interested in hearing about the CC. What is the body wood on the dinky?
You would think I made note of that. I saved the order emails, but then my mail db got corrupted, can't get the contents now. I'll see if the receipt and or online account show it... I'm thinking alder from the looks, though could be ash or soft maple?
Yeah, maple, and feels it too. Not as light as it looks.
Edit - since I had planned to carve and contour it further myself, maybe I can lighten it a bit while I'm at it. The shaping and sanding job from Warmoth is so perfect and smooth and ready to finish that it seems a shame to cut into it, but that's my plan. ;) Marked it up with pencil for the single coil pickup position (using a routing template) and the additional contouring.
