Double Bass NS design omni bass - thin neck

Hi folks,

I used to have an Ibanez UB804 but recently got a NS design NXTa omni bass, in hopes of improved arco sound. However I was disappointed to find that it has a thin neck, like a bass guitar, but unlike a typical DB or the Ibanez UB804. It's been only a few days but I'm not sure how I could get used to it. I can't play it without my left hand feeling weird and weak.

(Here is a thread discussing some of the issues of a thin neck for upright bass https://www.talkbass.com/threads/question-about-neck-thickness.1413911/)

Any suggestions? If I can't figure something out, I'll have to return it and go back to the UB804 (a bit of a shame, because I do think the omni bass sounds better). But many people seem to be happy with the NS design basses, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

I’ve been playing my Azola Bugbass with a FLOATING TOP for about 25 years. Great arco sound, but still not as good as my Upton.
I strongly recommend putting strings on that are arco friendly if that is your goal.
