Double Bass NS Designs Flatwound Strings

Can anyone tell me why NS Designs flatwound strings (the NS4FL set) are so much less expensive than, say, Helicores or other 4-string DB sets?

Has anyone played NS strings? What are they like?

Just a guess:
Maybe because they are shorter than strings for an acoustic bass, and are made especially for the NS design EUB. they seem to run about 20 bucks less than your Helicore example.

Hadn't thought about the length difference. Makes sense. Obviously, I can't use them on my Ergo EUB. Oh, well.
