Numb Fingers?

Anyone ever have their figners go cold & numb while playing? At practice today my finger tips (just the last joint of the middle, index & ring finger) on each hand started going numb. After a bit my guitar player noted that my finger tips were turning blue/ purple and started sort of getting a bit concerned about it.

When I put the bass down, the feeling slowly started to return. By the time I got home from practice, all had returned to normal. I did some reading on the net and did some searches here & other placed, but this doesent seem like the carpal tunnle stuff that most seem to experience. Its both hands, and just the tips of the fingers.

Not sure if it matters but the reahearsal space was cool today. We are a church band & it takes so long to bring the temp. up in the big sacntuary that for rehearsals we just leave it set where it is. Generally not a problem, just wear a sweater. Read about Reynaud's syndrome.

Also, the bass I'm using is realitvly new to me. A Stingray 5, bought it about a month ago, but it has been my main bass since purchase, and have been playing it 2-3 times a week without problem.

No issues with the Sunday morning service....I think it was temp. related. Twang stick picker laughs at me, but I'm always the first to feel cold, and he's comfortable in just a t-shirt in 60 deg. temps. OTOH, I'm comfortable with temps in the '90s without A/C; just dosent bother me much.

I've played on a float in a Christmas parade the past couple of years. We play a set of 4 songs over and over for about an hour without a break as we go through the route. That numbs the brain. We're moving so the people don't hear the same tunes over and over but man that will drive you nuts.

Two years ago it was just above freezing and misting rain for most of the route. I had half gloves on but my fingers still went numb quickly to match my brain.

This past year I wore full gloves stuffed with chemical heating packs... At least my hands didn't go numb.

Live and learn... now if we'd just could come up with a full set of Christmas tunes instead of the same four over and over and over...
