Nut Removal

I'm getting ready to defret and epoxy my P-Bass and I need to get the nut off the top of the neck. It's plastic though, so is there any good way of doing this without damaging it?

i think you should break it and buy a bone nut IMO

I used a flat head screw driver and hammer. Just tap it out. I did this on a SX neck with a plastic nut and it didn't do any damage.

i found the best way for removing nutts was to get the local vet to do it he did our cat and he's been fine ever since

The plastic nut on my Pbass broke last year. I used an box cutter blade to get under it and it popped right out.

I need to do the same on my Jazz bass..yet to be bold enough to try it as it's a curved nut, not a flat bottomoed one..
