Oasis Strings

Hi, hope all your summers are going well and the gigs are picking up.

My tech put me into Oasis Nickel Rounds a number of years back on my Reggie Hamilton CS. I had previously been using DR Sunbeam nickels.
Everything about the Oasis strings is great - perfect for the work I do, mostly live theatre.
However a recently visiting sound consultant suggested that he was hearing "excessive" finger noise and apparently made "adjustments" at the console.
I'm wondering if Oasis Stainless (Reggie designed the bass with stainless in mind) would be preferable to the Nickels to reduce "unwanted" noise?
The bass tone is set flat, I hesitate to start messing with that aspect.
I'm also getting on in years and possibly my hand strength is not what it used to be, sigh.
I welcome your suggestions.

Very interesting thread. I actually have a set of oasis flex steel I'm going to probably try very soon on a bass I'm refinishing right now. Due to how i kill nickels and get allergies from them I only use steel strings. I also prefer the tone. As strings get broken in that grab or string noise should calm down too. Some steels are grabbier, brighter, clankier than others and they all break in differently. You might have to go on a string saga to find what you like. If i string up the oasis steels ill be posting my thoughts so hopefully that'll be helpful. I try so many strings that I've become a walking thesaurus on stainless strings.

Thanks for the replies. These Oasis Nickels have lasted a looooong time on both my basses. They are still bright enough with a lotsa bottom after a few years! The FOH guys are very excited with the clarity and depth. They are great to play on, possibly stiff for some folks, but good for me. Just the "extraneous finger noise" complaint that made me wonder....

oasis flex steels went on the rockbass streamer and after some time here's what i find. So the b string is a bit long for a 34" scale bass. I had to do some modification at the bridge as shown. Just something to keep in mind for the 5 string players. So tonally they are nice and bright. I prefer a little fatter tone than what i get with these but it could be the light gauges. I feel like they compare with dr high beams for feel and tone even though these are hex core im pretty sure. Im letting them wear in to see what happens but so far i dont have any complaints. They are definitely flexible and compared to what i usually play on they feel fast and pretty smooth. The last set of strings that gave me a similar impression was high beams but Rotosound funkmaster too. I'll probably go back to stiffer strings afterwards but I'm happy to keep playing these for a while.
