There is a bass out there I have to have! It's a signature model (which I detest) but if I was famous, this would be my sig model.
So; Let's sell a bass or two! There is one that is just not working for me. Parts bass that just didn't click; break it down and sell it off. Cool, half way there.
Then there is my 1996 Precision LYTE Deluxe. I'm 60, and I bought it 5 years ago because it's light, around 7 pounds on my bathroom scale. It's a beautiful bass, but I'm into the classic Fender thing (The new bass gas thing for instance). I never play it; don't really like the idea of active electronics, it doesn't look like a Fender 50s/60s bass (my style). I thought I would sell this one also to buy my new "must have".
I have a youtube subscription to a series of Jazz/Blues backing tracks that I "jam with" 3 or 4 hours a week. Since I'm putting the LYTE on the market, I thought I'd put it through its paces, to see if it need a setup, etc.
Damn! no, I meant DAMN!! I haven't really played this bass in probably 2 years, but this was amazing. The musicality was awesome!! I was playing the recorded bass line, catching the tone and timbre, and then found myself drifting into improvising melody leads, all over the neck!
I have two passive American Jazz basses and two “built” passive P-basses. My LYTE caught the P-bass vibe on the bottom with a JAZZ- bass lead tone on the melody, with no switching! Blend set to detent, tones dimed.
This IS the best sounding, most musical bass I own……
I think I'll keep it!!
