Obd3 overdrive

I just bought a boss OBD3 bass overdrive pedal and when ever im using it, it makes this high pitched squealing noise. Does any one know how to stop it ??

Maybe roll off the high end, gain, and volume a bit to see if it helps.

If not, return it if you're not comfortable taking it apart.


I've had mine for 10 years and it's never had an issue like that unless it was desired feedback...

Mine doesn't do that, unless you have all the controls maxed out. What are your settings?
I used to HATE this pedal until I found a few songs in our set where it just sounds "right". I would like to have it modded to cut out some of the background noise but 99% of the time it works fine.

I have the mix knob almost all the way to "dry" otherwise it's harsh, also the treble/bass eq is cut or boost, too much treble boost could do that maybe, make sure the level is close to unity gain? and don't dime the drv/gain knob. I havn't really had a prob like that except when all or some of the knobs are up too high. maybe A/B it with another OBD-3 and see if you have a lemon?

Do you use a power supply? If they're poorly filtered/stabilized they sometimes do that.

Try swapping between a power supply and a 9v battery.

turn down your highs knob. I had this problem for a while, just tone back either your volume or gain if the problem persists.

Gotta love the simple answers, prob the easiest solution so far.

Mine doesn't do that unless the treble or the gain are cranked, sounds unnatural to have that problem.
