OBP-3 clipping noise on the attack portion of the notes.

It only appears when the controls are pushed a bit, with the bass control being the most apparent. The bass control also brings up the volume on the OBP-3 so it makes me think this is related to a headroom problem or a component is lacking power to operate properly when the preamp is used "more"
If i put the tone controls of the bass to their neutral position the clicking noise totally dissapears. The clicking noise it's not loud and if i start slapping and stuff it would be inaudible. If i play soft it's right there on the attack of the notes. The OBP-3 it's wired at 9V at the moment. I was told that 18v opperation could be the solution.
The input jack is also doing some weird noises when i connect the cable but idk if that's related.
What do you think ?
I recorded the bass DI and uploaded an audio file.
Bass is a SR506 with MK-1's

It's an output jack, not an input jack, but in any case the jack also acts as the on/off switch for the preamp power. The side mounted barrel type output jacks are known to wear out and fail with use, so before you go to the trouble of converting to 18 volts, I would get the output jack checked out and/or replaced.

Thanks guys, will do both things. Check the output jack and test the pre at 18v.
About the Bartolinis... well its seems like the MK6CBC to replace the MK-1's are really hard to find.
Where do you buy Bartolini pickups ? From their own website ?

Yeah those seem to be an odd size. You can try these guys to see if they have any on order or if they have other pickups that size:
