Odd Tab Translations

I was looking through some tabs and saw an odd symbol next to an open note. I looked it up and it was the slide symbol ( I believe it was slide down ). I said, "Cool.. a slide. Sounds like it sound good." Well.. I tried, but the question is: How do you slide an open note? My friend had a similar problem on bending an open note.

That is quite the problem now, isn't it.

This is why it is very important to remember when consuming internet tabs, that some of these tabs were quite literally created by children who had only been playing for a few weeks when they posted their "masta" piece on the web.

Proceed with caution. Always trust your ears.

You bend an open note by putting one hand on the back of the headstock, and one hand on the top of the bass near the neck pocket.... :)
