anyone happen to know if these look like origonal transformers?

Not a lot of info on B12s (compared to the more common sb12)

But most b15s Iv seen, the transformers are more square, and match the height of the tube cage.

It's a little unusual but not unheard of. The B12 head is just a B15 head paired with the smaller 12" cabinet. It's not the greatest pic, but here is a B15 I used to have that had the taller cans:

I have been following this thread for a few years now and can finally join! About a 3 years ago I bought a B15R - it was damaged during shipping so instead I bought a 50T and a PF 115 cabinet. Then a year ago I came across another 15R - this one arrived safely. Last month I found a reasonably priced '66 B15-N on Ebay and that arrived safely... currently awaiting some parts to put it back to original. I'll get pics up once I get everything properly assembled.

I'd say we could be friends but I hate you right now.

A 50t or a PF cab would qualify you for the club. So would a PF300, 500 or 800. PF does stand for Portaflex.

A 50W amp and a 410 can still shake your building. Even a 25W and a 112 can rattle a room. Headphones can help but it's not for everyone. My ears can't deal with headphones. So I place an amp close by at ear level to monitor. Low volume works. With headphones, I use an Ampeg SGT DI preamp. It has settings for an 810 and a 115. The Venture series heads are the same but with an added power amp.
ahhhh you're sgt guy now!

no amp?

what headphones are you using?

I still have all my amps, the SGTDI is used for quiet playing with bass and guitar. I have different headphones that I've accumulated over the years. I mostly use Beyerdynamic DT 250 (for no particular reason other than they sound good and are light) with the Ampeg SGTDI..

Cleaning and restorations are always fun. I find that this sort of work is therapeutic.
