OFFICIAL ASHDOWN CLUB

Hej
I have recently purchased Ashdown ABM Evo 500 II. On the rear I see there is Effects Send and Return

What are the use of these? How are they used?
Effects loops are used to inject effects pedals into the sound chain after the preamp. If they are used it's usually used with time based effects (reverbs and delays) and modulation effects (chorus, phaser, flanger, etc.). Most don't use them, as it takes extra time and cables to hook them up and usually just run them through the input. I love my Keely Omni Reverb though the effects loop on my CTM-30, it was good through the input, but sounds much better through the FX Loop.

Thanks for the explanation, so from what I understand if for example I have a pedal between my bass and the amp like usual it will kick in before the Amps own preamp. But if I put it on effects loop the pedals will receive the signal after it goes through Amps own preamp?

Yep, this is used sometimes in (most frequently historically) guitars for reverb and delays. I could be way off, but it's the use I've heard of most. That or if a pedal/outboard preamp is preferred, then the amps preamp can be totally bypassed.

Hello hive mind. My Ashdown RM-210T-EVO 2 Cab is buzzing. Not just when it's plugged in but unplugged and my 15 is next to it. I can't seem to locate anything externally. Suggestions?
Buzzing when in not plugged in? Is it a cab or a combo? If there is nothing plugged in to a cab, there is no power, let alone any signal getting to the speaker to move the cone.

I found my new to me/used RM-115T has a nasty buzz. The cone is coming unglued from the surround. I'll be regluing it when I get up in the morning.

I had to wait for the Speaker Repair Adhesive from Simply Speakers to come in. I just applied a bead around the cone under where the surround was supposed to be attached. I had about 5 minutes to make sure everything was set right and waited the 12 hours to cure. They had very responsive service and through the chat answered any questions within a minute or two. It's working great now.

I'm using the new (to me/used) cab sounds fantastic with this amp. Nothing wrong with the two DukeLeJeune 110 cabs, as they sound great, but different and up until now was the best sounding cabs to go with my CTM-30.

The difference is the RM-115 is a warmer, fuller sound. The 110s have more lows (when used together) and more treble, almost a slightly scoop mid tone. You can hear and feel the tubiness more through the RM115.

With RM-115T EVO II.JPG

The DukeLeJeune 110s are behind on the left.

I'm on the lookout for a reasonably priced RM-210T EVO II to go with this and my MAG300. This cab has the same dimensions as the RN-115T. I've found the combination of a 115 and a 210 of the same manufacturer typically gives the greatest versatility and broadest range of tones. It's also nice that the pairing looks cool and stacks neatly. The EVO II Root Master line is being discontinued and the EVO III will have the silver grill cloth as on the Studio line of combos. The EVO IIIs do not show a 210 cab of any style.

FYI, Ashdown tube amps have the effects loop early in the signal path. For the CTM30 it should be input jack->tube->effects loop->tube->tone stack->tube->tube->mute & volume->phase inverter

I think CTM-300 also

Recently purchased a Chorus Pedal (probably best in class) and there’s certainly something with choosing through the front or in the loop

So if I can hear it then it’s probably a thing

If I had to choose as a straight rule I’d be a 1x15 over 2x10

Have a go and experiment
There’s no “correct” answer

I would never put an Overdrive via the effects loop but maybe you could like it.

I think @MadJack description of time modulation devices through the loop is accurate and potentially a good place for you to start.

Question. Anyone here own the Retroglide head? And if so, what kind of eq curve do you use on the graphic? I got this amp at a bargain price, and along with the 2 2x10 cabs, what more could o ask for? Well, I find it a very "thin" sounding head. Sure, I boost the bottom frequencies and I'm set, but still.

So, ideas on how to get a nice thick, not woofy, bottom end for on stage monitoring purposes (my board DI goes to the house).

My thanks in advance

Rare bird from what I've heard, never seen one either. With graphics I always tend to push somewhere in the 150-250hz range for oomph and punch, then kinda do an upside down smiley and boost any higher frequency bands that help me come out in the mix a bit.
