I missed the GTG to play my first gig w/ Sexual Chocolate (mentioned it earlier). I had to give Knoxville it's first taste of CHI-ness 
, haven't seen anyone besides a couple of pros play a Lakland here, EVER and they weren't CHI'd up.
Anyways, I'm jealous as hell!! But, S.C. made an impact BIG TIME, so I don't regret it. The sound guy is a bassist, and he was floored... asked me all kinds of questions, had me blushing w/ all the compliments. I was honest.... told him it's my gear, not me hahaha. I'll post some action shots as soon as I can.

I wish to someday make it to one of these Secret Lakland Society meets...I have a serious question I need to ask you all.
Have you ever gotten rid of a Lakland, and if so, what was your reason?
I know basspraiser sold his DJ b/c of his OTHER Lakland, the JO, and had to choose one between the two styles. But have you ever come across a Lakie that left you wanting more?
I can't believe I'm already thinking about filing divorce papers (with my DJ4). I snatched up the last remaining Korean-made DJ at Bass Central in a hurry. Something about that Korean Skyline legacy really got to me. And after months of waiting she arrives, and I'm ecstatic... for a while at least.
She came with a pearloid pg (which aren't stock), and already had some scuffs on the frets (which I attribute to other packages bouncing on the box, pressing the strings). Feels slighty chunky, too, weighing in at 11.5 lbs.
It's a strange feeling... you know you love her, but can't shake that sinking feeling that she's been cheating on you...
It's still better than my Squier, but then, that one was only $150 used!
I was this close to stepping it up and getting a US model.
But I realized that if Uriah Duffy can pull all his stunts on a Skyline, I should be able to also. I don't know if I could live with getting a US model while my hero plays just fine on a skyline.
In the meantime, I guess I'll brush up my technique, and haul the bass for a setup to San Fran somehow. All I know is that it's gonna a PAIN IN THE ASS.
I'll withhold my judgment until then. In the meantime, I'll see if I can kiss and makeup!

getting a DJ, and putting a P p/u in the neck position or getting a BG and putting a J p/u in the bridge?

I'd say the BG would be easier, assuming the routing is done cleanly.
A P pup might not fit on that small jazz pickguard, which is why Sadowsky PJ's have a different template for those...
If you can afford it, I'd say just get both a Jazz and Precision.
My PJ has always had trouble finding its role, and I realized I could put my mind to rest with just a single P pup. I have my DJ jazz for growling needs, after all!
I sold my first Lakie: a 2002 55-02 to fund one of my current Lakies, an Skyline JO5 Indo-plek with Chi-sonics. I am very comfortable with that decision, though I would jump on another 55-02 in a heartbeat. I don't think I would sell a Lakland to fund something else form another manufacturer. Unless I was doing some insane trade that was criminally in my favor.
The 55-02 and JO are so different in style that I guess that was a pretty good choice. Nothing you found lacking in the 02, I presume?

Nope. Awesome bass. I just really wanted a JO5 CS and I'm married...
Cool. I really need to give my DJ a second chance. Can't wait til summer so I can finally get some closure on this issue.
