Oh ****, another JamKazam thread...

wow that's beyond workable. There's a router or 2 in my path that has extremely high latency (probably over-buffered). When I traceroute, I typically big increases in ping time from Comcast routers in Beaverton OR.

I was trying JK again last night - made a half-dozen attempts to get into a session. I was able to hear one person out of maybe 20, and that person wasn't playing anything. Just sipping a drink in front of a microphone.

Seems that my only option right now is file sharing. Damn COVID.

Yes, that level of delay is just not workable. This is a screen shot from my connection to your server today...

Had a good session on Saturday with my band and we were down to about 12ms ping and overall delay of ~60ms, which was OK with a backing or click track but not so good without as the tendancy to slow down was very difficult to manage.

HELP! Can't get my signal into Jamkazam.
I am using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen into a MacBook Pro. I registered Scarlett and loaded driver onto my HD and downloaded JamKazam software. Went though the steps on JamKazam while watching a bunch of videos.
Everything seems fine, even got to the last "you are ready to go" page, but no signal. Tried a Solo Session and while I could hear myself through my headphones the level lights on the virtual sliders on JamKazam didn't move.
During audio setup on JK the Scarlett was listed and I selected it for both inputs and outputs. I also went into Preferences/Sound on MacBook and made sure to select Scarlett.
Since JK is seeing the Scarlett and so is my computer I assume it is loaded properly. I am probably missing one setting or adjustment but it is driving me nuts.
Also tried a sample session with another player. Could hear him but he couldn't hear me.
The Focusrite is currently just serving as a headphone amp!
Any suggestions? This should be easy but is turning into a headache.

My initial setup with JK a few months ago was frustrating too but I finally got it to work.

One thing to check, if you haven't already, is the loop back function in your Focusrite settings. I think it needs to be set to "off" as recommended by JK, but you might try toggling through the different selections and see if you can hear audio coming through.

I don't know if this will solve the issue but I'll try to think of some other potential remedies when I can sit down in front of my own gear and think. In the meantime don't give up and good luck!

in the KamKazam client, start a "quick start solo" session. Next, expand the Manage menu, select "Audio Settings", then "Loopback Latency Testing".

Also take a look at the "Audio Booster" if you haven't already.

I assume you have been able to hear another player using headphones connected to your Focusrite. If this is true, then you have successfully setup the 2i2 and the problem is somewhere in your input settings.

Can you make a successful recording in Garageband (or any other app)?

Haven't done a session yet but think I fixed my problem.
Apparently some recent Mac operating systems, like Mojave, require that you "allow" the software you load or it won't recognize it. I am using a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 3rd Gen. Focusrite has good tech support on their site (JamKazam not so much!) with easy to understand answers to common questions/problems.

Here is an abbreviated version of what I found (after a week of pulling out whats left of my hair!):
"With the release of macOS 10.14 (Mojave), Apple has released a new security feature which requires the user to manually "Allow" apps to access the microphone. When opening an audio app for the first time you will be presented with the below message.

In order to input audio into your apps using your Focusrite interface, you will be required to press "OK".

If you have clicked "Don't Allow" for any reason, you will need to open the System Preferences and go to Security and Privacy to manually allow the app to access audio input. Once you're in Security and Privacy, click on the Privacy tab, then select Microphone on the left-hand side and select the apps you wish to access the microphone."

I followed these instructions and "allowed" Focusrite and JamKazam (for good measure!) and did a "Solo Session' as a test. Seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions here. Hope this bit helps the next TBer.
