Doubling the power is roughly +3 dB SPL. It is not "barely" noticeable, especially at louder volumes. It is quite plainly noticeable. But still not a huge upgrade in volume.

There's no doubling of power with the change of impedance with the OP's amp, it delivers rated power into 2, 4 or 8 ohms.
Sorry, I don't believe that is correct.
AFAIK we are discussing a Ampeg V2 cab loaded with Delta Pro 12As. But the OP said his amp is an Acoustic Image Focus 2R.

I misread her post about the amp being an Ampeg V2, which is a 60 watt tube guitar amp that I thought she mentioned was "converted" to bass use. I thought she was getting a new amp, maybe the AI?
There is a V2 bass cabinet (412) but why would anybody convert a bass cabinet to bass use?

I had bad experiences with 4x12 cabinets. The first one I traded for a 2x15 which was great and used it for several years.
The second one I pecked the speakers out which sounded like it had cymbal rivets installed in the dust covers. Never stopped working but the sizzle got to me after a while so I sold it to a guitar player who liked how it sounded.

I own an Acoustic Image Focus 2R, series iii. It can handle anything I throw at it. I use it with tiny little speakers for soft gigs and I regularly use it with a 410 cab at high volumes with a not very delicate drummer, and everything in between sometimes stacking three(!!!) ACME cabs which are known to eat up a lot of power. It is capable of up to 900 watts and down to 2 ohms; more versatile and a much better overall gigging amp than my Thunderfunk 550 which sounds great but is limited in power and ohms....
