Oil finish on body

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a bass that has oil finished (ash) body.

It's gorgeous, and having more resonance sounds like a good idea, however I'm unsure about how much maintenance and fuss this finish would require. Having discolorations and some natural, light "relicing" would be completely fine by me, but I don't want to worry too much about where I keep the bass or whether someone looks at it angrily or not.

Please share your experiences with these finishes.

My oil finish walnut Cheyenne is my favorite Rick, ever. The feel and sound are both great.
I clean it with Watco Danish oil about once a year.

I had oil finishes on a couple of my basses till last year when I refinished them. I did it once and forgot about it. Chance of dinging is no better or worse than any other finish.
