Old 1991 Yamaha S8M's

Anyone have experience with these studio monitors? Guru just gave me a pair for my music room/studio. One has a little damage on the mid speaker rubber surround, but the damn old things sound perfect to me-- nice instrument separation, etc. They sound like mix worthy, unforgiving monitors. Never had monitors before; any comments, suggestions?

I use them everyday; like the sound very much. I pair them with my 2x10 and 212 bass cabs when doing play back from computer. So, I don't push them very hard. With huge head room and the bass cabs they almost sound like surround sound.
Definitely, has added very nice mids and highs. I use presonus audiobox and take left and right out to separate power amps which drive each side/stereo! These speakers were designed to be reference monitors after mixing.. not high fidelity listening devices. So, they are pretty flat in response to recorded music/tracks. I also team up my 210 cab and one Yamaha to play my twanger guitar after sending its signal through pedals into power amp.
