Double Bass Old carved bass local on ebay

Not mine and I'm not thinking of buying it, cause I'm moving in a couple weeks. Just thought some people here might be interested, and maybe some of the experts could suggest what it is?

I can't see a pic or a link but I'm guessing it's the blonde bass. German or Czech with lots of issues. Scroll graft with a possibly crooked neck set. It's not uncommon to find integral bass bars in these basses so who knows what's going on there. It needs extensive re-edging and purfling. The back seam looks wonky and the button area is all kinds of broken. The top crack repairs look iffy and there appears to be a gouge around the tail piece area. And the wooden tuner pegs are missing the outer caps. I sent the seller a very lowball offer but he declined.

You forgot to mention the soundpost crack in the back. The neck set looks straight to me, but that bevel is gigantic and draws the eye to one side. Who knows how it plays.

I was in touch with the seller last week, laying out what it is and what it needs. I'd take it for free, but not for too much more than free.

What I can't understand is why it has so much sloppy work...and a scroll graft.
