Old GK 410T replacement speaker problems? Help!

Have you contacted GK ?
They were of some help to me when trying to find/identify speakers for my 80's 410B.....unfortunately, mine was made at a time when the drivers were made by Pyle audio....and I didn't have any luck finding a replacement.....but if You like the sound, maybe you'll be able to find a used cab as a source.....that's what I ended up doing to maintain two healthy cabs.....I tried various replacements, and nothing sounded even close in efficiency and brightness as the originals (although they were lower power) .

GC is usually quite useless with something like this, yes !

That's not the worst of it, as the impedance and power rating are only two of at least six factors you need to know to replace a driver, and that doesn't include an SPL chart. This is an example of what you need:

Chances are you're best off getting another cab, then sell the remaining three drivers to others currently in the same boat as you are.
80 watts? Wow, the speakers in my 210T always seemed to me to be sturdier than that, and I imagine they are each the 8 ohm version of yours.
Cool. Sometimes random replacements work. Other times they don't. I put a BP102 into a 110 Cab that had been sounding a bit tired, and did not get good results. It all depends on the cab. Can you record it and post somewhere?

Not to rain on your parade, but for the benefit of others the power rating of a driver is one of the least significant specs. If the B102 sounds better than the originals it's due to other factors.
I also have a 410T with a blown speaker (and a 115T with a blow speaker, different incident) and recently contacted GK as well to find out more. I bought mine new and have used it all these years with no problems. I was thinking about getting the Eminence B102 also, so glad to know it worked for you.

They should not be 8 ohm speakers. G-K uses parallel wiring in their speaker cabs. 4 32 ohm speakers will make an 8 ohm cab, 4 16 ohm speakers make a 4 ohm cab.
8 ohm speakers will require changing the cab wiring (to series/parallel) so you don't wind up with a 2 ohm cab.

I think my cabnet was wired series parallel, because I remember rewiring it while I was in audio engineering school to be all parallel and I thought I got it down to 2 ohms to work well with my power amp. It's been so long ago that I did that though, it's hard to remember. When I get to practice tomorrow night I'll be able to check and let you know.
