Double Bass Old Gut String ID

Hey gang,

I've had this E string on my main bass for over 10 years. I thought I knew what it was but now I'm not sure. The winding finally failed and started unraveling, unfortunately, so it's RIP.
It came off an old bass I bought that hadn't been played in decades and the strings were all mixed so I wasn't 100% sure what it was.
Anyone recognize it?

It's the best gut E string I've ever used.
I replaced it with a Carlos Henriquez Chordas E which is fairly similar, but I'm definitely going to miss this string.
