Greetings from Cape Cod! After a 52 year break since I last (first)played, my GF bought me a bass for my 71st birthday (Gretsch Junior Jet). Bought my first bass in '66 with paper route money (Hagstrom HB1 and Ampeg B12) and played in a garage band, then in a college mixer band. Gave it up when I entered the service in 71 and just never got around to picking it up again. After a lifetime of stupidity (dislocated shoulder, torn rotator cuff, cervical and lumbar fractures, arthritis in both hands, yada yada yada) I favor short scales (more like I need to play short scales). Been banging around on it for about a month now and am starting to make recognizable sounds! I learned about this site through a FB Jazz bass group, where I also learned that Fender Japan has a short scale Jazz available. Decided to pull the trigger and buy one. Currently in transit and hope to have it soon! Happy to be here ( hell, happy to wake up in the morning!) and looking forward to contributing in some way.
