This pickup came installed on my newest old bass. I had to install adjusters anyway, so I threw on a full circle and cut the wire to this guy. It sounded pretty decent and useable with a nice bite to the attack, but not as feedback resistant as the FC, so the decision to cut was simple.

Is anyone familiar with this style?

I am wondering if I should try to a) remove it from the bridge or b) keep it in there and maybe wire it back in eventually (if it’s worth salvaging)…

The white filler makes me think Barcus-Berry, but installed in the wing instead of the arch. I'd leave it alone unless it causes a problem. I'd keep an eye on that crack in the leg on the pickup side, though.

I was able to fix that break really well (I hope, at least — wood glue, clamp’d, etc) and salvage this, the bridge that came on the axe. It’s solid now, but I put those koa shims in to be extra sure. My only concern about leaving it in there is that it might somehow have a drag on the acoustic function of the bridge wings, but if it’s no issue I’ll leave it be as a backup for now.
