On carrying a good passive DI at all times

Just a little story---I was playing an outdoor festival gig this weekend, and the whole place was fraught with power problems (even the kid's jumpy went down a couple times). Well, for the first time decided to try using the DI out on the back of my amp.
Then at the last minute I pulled out my JDI and swapped that in, 'cause, I dunno why, except that's what I normally always use.
Well, guess who's power to their amp went down mid-set? Mine. Nobody else's. I was still in the house and in the monitors. Not great monitors, but still I was there.

Wow, that sucks your amp went out. But yeah, even if it's just a cheap little Whirlwind or Rapco, it's better than not being able to play. Usually a sound company will have their own DI's, but best not to leave it to chance.

Oh yeah dude I have had the same experience, and my Radial passive DI saved me , so I will always carry it with me .

Yeah, anything would have done--my old beater Whirly, whatever---but it was just funny that, had I not swapped it out at the last minute, this would have literally been the first time I used the DI out on an amp of my own in 30 years of playing (not including backline situations), and I woulda been dead in the water (at least until the stage tech coulda scrambled something together). Lucky I guess, but a nice reminder . . .

I've had that happen a couple times at outdoor festivals. i always have my own DI"S with me, usually a Behringer active DI100 or an ART tube PAC, and sometimes my Sansamp three-channel unit. For the last two years, I have not used an amp unless we are using a stranger's system. I hear myself great, I can load in in one trip, and my back is not achy the next day.
