No dis but I dont agree with this. Warm is the last verb I would use to describe an ATK. I love my ATK but it is all punch and guts no matter how you dial it in.......Jazz bass warm, ATK boom!

An alternative to Warmoth: USA Custom Guitars. When I wanted something Warmoth wouldn't do, then I contacted Tommy @ USACG. He left them for the same reason, being stuck in their ways, and his stuff is top notch.

Dude I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, except I'm looking for a 34" scale and definitely neck-thru and definitely 24 frets. It's soooo weird to me that this type of set-up isn't more common or more affordable. The only thing that comes close to this will cost $2,000-$4,000 which I don't/won't have for a bass haha.
Warrior basses do this, they also put a jazz pickup in between that sweetspot (not musicman spot) which I'd like to do, but they're too expensive.
Aria basses kinda recently made a model similar to this, but they're really expensive too.

That is a unique one for sure. I think I would be open to something with three pickups, especially if I could turn certain ones off. Honestly though, once I found the tone I want out of the bass, I probably will not change it at all during shows. I change my hand position/switch for fingers or pick for 98% of songs I play.

Made this one myself from assorted new and used parts. The pickup route on this body was already large enough to accommodate the MM Humbucker so it was fairly easy. I put in a Tele style three way switch for series/single/parallel on the pickup. I find the tone of this bass much more pleasing than a traditional Precision bass.

VERY NICE! I am getting tempted to do it myself over here.... Might have to call Mike Lull and get that P5 sent to me with an EMG 40DC routing only....

Well talk about clueless, I just found out Mike Lull makes a few P basses with just a humbucker in the P position. I think I am going to contact him and see what he can do for me. I might just get two pickups anyway, I can install a switch and a blending knob and get whatever I want - if the single pickup does not work out, at least I know two HB's will.

Meh... i can understand where you're coming from, but i can get a VERY warm tone from my ATK. Mine is a first year, 95, ATK... i dunno if they changed anything as time went on. But, with the right strings, i can get super warm tones in the front switch position.

The Peavey T series model with the 1 pup is a T-45. The T-20 is the slanty super ferrite.

The T-45 is awesome, totally my fave of the trio, and criminally underrated...

That is what I was thinking. I just sent Mike an e-mail about taking a P5 and putting two humbuckers on it instead of a single P pickup. I am trying to stay under $2500. I have to have the 35" neck - the extra tension allows me to dig in more and still have the control I want on a bass. 34" scales - the strings are too floppy and I do not like that. Ken Smith 34" scales are not bad, but the price freaks me out.

T-45 looks pretty cool too!

Well a $2,500 Mike Lull is a wee bit out of my range. But if you can hang with that, definitely go for it. It's probably going to be the best axe you'll ever own.

And agreed, That old T-45 does look pretty cool.

Update - Just got off the phone with Mike Lull's guitar shop and spoke with Paul Schuster. I am going to get that Mike Lull P5 built the way I want! Everything I want seems to be a piece of cake for Mike and his crew!
