Start by tuning up your bass. Unless you're purposefully not tuned to A440, your g string is about 50 cents flat. You can also try using more than 6 notes for one, and then also try building your basslines around a chord structure.

When you're done with that, maybe it's time to graduate to using two strings, maybe even three or all four.
