Online Lessons - Audio/Video Setup

I am going to start online lessons on EUB in a few weeks so I'm working on upgrading my minimal setup. I have only my Dell Inspiron 7000-13 laptop (running linux O/S) with its cheesey camera and mic.

I don't know yet if the instructor will want to use skype, zoom or google.meet, or perhaps even iRealPro.

I know I will need a separate camera, with appropriate field of view, so that the instructor can see me full frame standing, at least from the knees up, to coach my positioning and technique. Recommendations?

What is needed or recommended for audio? I could use an external mic or I could run the EUB through some sort of interface and then into my computer. App required?

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can spend an unlimited amount but of course there are diminishing returns. You may be able to get by with just the laptop camera and microphone. If that doesn't work, start with a computer webcam with a built-in microphone (I have a Logitech) and see how that works. If the audio isn't good enough, then a microphone and audio interface (such as a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2) would be the next step. Hope this helps!

I know from experience with just meetings that the built-in camera on my laptop is crap. Although the audio is passable for conversation, I suspect it would also be crap for music. I think I will start with your suggestion of a decent webcam with built-in mic and see how that works. I will be looking for one with two or three field of view options. Since I'm a complete beginner on EUB the initial focus of my lessons is going to be proper technique so the audio/tone portion won't be top of mind for now. It will become more important as I get into bowing.

Unless someone chimes in here with a better and reasonably priced suggestion :)
