I’ve been away from music for a while and while I was never fluent in theory I maybe knew enough. Today, as I pick up the instrument again, I would like to have a better understanding of theory, in person instruction is probably not practical so can anyone recommend some good courses to learn theory? I’ve been working on the fretboard and knowing where all the notes are but I want to be sufficiently fluent to speak the language (with my instrument and peers).

Theory is theory. So all of the books, etc. already listed should get you where you need to be.

Good luck on your journey. Little today, more tomorrow, danger happens when you get lost in all of the information that the Internet will offer. Unrelated bits and pieces of the story will lead to brick walls. Pick one source and thirty minutes of pure study a day will start building the bridge to knowledge.

It is a journey that you can enjoy for the rest of your life.
