Opinions - Ashdown Rig

Hey guys and girls, I need your insight on a Bass rig setup I might be able to get my hands on.

I currently play 2 Ibanez SR basses and only have a little Peavy 75W combo amp. Playing with drums it is almost impossible to be heard so i need to step it up. I might be able to get my hands on an Ashdown setup but wanted to see what folks thought.

It is a MAG 300 head, 2x10 cab 250W & 8 ohms and 1x15 cab 250W at 4 ohms. I can get this for 400. First is this a good deal and second would it sound good and be loud enough? We are not playing gigs yet but would like something that would work and avoid me spending big $$$ at this point.

You won't be able to run both cabs together, as they will drop below 4 Ohms (which is min for that head). You could run either cab by itself, or get another 8 Ohms cab to pair up with the 2x10.

Other than that, I have had nothing but good experience with Ashdown gear.

Hey 4 string, apparently the guy has both the 2x10 cab and 1x15 cab hooked up to the Amp head.

I am new to Amps as I have been only playing bass for 1.5 yrs now but the Ashdown site says mininum impedance of 4 ohms. Now obvisiously it won't produce the same power but wouldn't it still work?

Oops, my mistake but it's a 8 ohm 1x15 cab with the 8 ohm 2x10 cab.

you'll be fine if both cabs are rated at 8 ohms, just as reference I sold my MAG300, MAG410 and a MAG115 for $400.00....

If all else is right, you should be able to hear yourself with that rig.

If both cabs are 8 Ohms, running both together is no issue.
