Opinions on a P mod.

If you love your MIA P why do want it to sound like a 'Ray?

If you really do want it to sound like a 'Ray though a MM style p/up in the correct position and an active circuit will get you right in the ball park. Have you considered a P/MM config?

+1

That said, there is something really great about the tried and true P/J setup. I did the MM/P thing years ago and I didn't like it much... Too thick for my tastes, and the MM p'up alone just didn't... work, if you know what I mean. It isn't just the p'up and the preamp that makes a stingray sound like a stingray.

If you did put the MM pickup, would you put it right up against the pickguard or would you cut out some of the pickguard and put it right next to the P pickup. By the way, I think it's a great idea, I want to do this sometime in the future with a Warmoth body.
