Opinions on Peavey XR-600B

Someone is selling one for $30 in my neighborhood.

This would be as a home PA.

Is it worth the $30?

Does it work? Are you able to test it before you buy it? Do you have the pa knowlege to tell if everything works? that thing won't get very loud, but for rehersals and stuff, it'll do. Do you have a pair of speakers in mind to use with this? You will need speakers designed for live sound. Basically, if it works (and is not noisy, which is the most common problem with old gear) you can't go wrong for $30. Just as long as your willing to invest in some speakers.

PS: my questions may seem obvious, I don't know what your knowlege level is

If it all works, $30 is indeed a steal! Something like that would probably be worth $75 to $100 IMO.

They are perfect for a practice room amp. Buy it.

VERY well worth it.

I dorked and dorked with setups for a house gig I have..

At times I'd bring an upright.. then other basses.

I use this (type/class) to drive a cab tuned to a room.. never have a sound complaint... I used to get complaints about my huge racks etc.

It's cool to have the option to have a single channel for ipods.. run 2 separate basses..

Comes in handy at practices when we need to hear a tune.

Contrary to what you'll hear on talk bass.... there's VERY little difference in the power amp of a mixerhead and a bass head.

Pick it up .. you can always use it.

Stuff like this is great to leave at your practice space... you never get paid for schlepping junk
