Opinions on the Ibanez BTB845?

I've saw this particular bass used and it looks stunning in blue.

How are they? And does anyone know what the differences are between the BTB745 and BTB845? Is it just the top's finish?

I'd agree it's the wood recipe and finish, but you can study up on these to see if the differences are meaningful to you.

They're great basses, but they are a BIG axe, 35" scale, solid as a tank, but they're 180 degrees out from the far slimmer and lighter Soundgears. But they are a neck through instrument which I prefer: Smooth heel, terrific access to the upper frets if you spend time 'up there'.

But they are definitely a 'full size' instrument. If you're looking for a lighter, slimmer, more compact bass, these AIN'T one of those.

I would suggest playing one before buying it. My 845V initially presented an uncomfortably sharp angle under my right arm. Mine had a terrible finish from the factory, so I refinished it and took the opportunity to re-contour the body to make it more comfortable to play. Also replaced the offshore Barts with USA Barts.
