Somebody on this board gave me this idea but I can't remember who it was! This is a J body I had lying around. I painted it in nitro LPB and put a clearcoat on top, also nitro. The design is painted with acrylic colors and took me a week to do.
As you can see in the photo on the left I used pencil to rough in the circles. When I finished the paint I installed the bridge, PUPS and clamped on the neck and then coated it with epoxy resin, so the top is about an eighth of an inch thick. The epoxy is a mess to work with and I don't advise anybody to use this technique. This is my own bass and I esseintally sealed in the PUPS and the bridge because I wanted the epoxy to flow around the units, and not sit on top of it.
The back is getting another treatment that I'll post in the future.
