Double Bass Orange setup for a DB?

Hey all,

Getting a double bass soon, and a friend of mine told me there's a possibilty of it blowing my amp up.. I thought he was joking/didnt know what he was talking about, but you can never be too certain..

Anyhow, I'm using an Orange ad200b MK3 head with an Orange 4x10.

While im at it, what's a good electric pickup for a double bass, too?

Uh, no. You're not going to blow an amp up with DB that you wouldn't have blown up with a BG. At least not something bigger than a dorm room practice amp. Most DB players use single 10" or single 12" speaker cabs.

Amplifiying a DB is tricky, though. Start in our wiki threads on this and let us know if have any specific questions after you have...and stop listening to that guy.

Knew it!
"You're f*%#&$ joking, right?" Was my response, haha. I stuck to my guns and said he was an idiot, but the thought was in the back of my head and i just wanted to make sure.
I've done a bit of research, and i think what i might be after is a pickup which goes under the bass foot. Playing fast kinda stuff like, The Brains, Koffin Kats, Stray Cats, Zombie Ghost Train, etc etc.

...I've done a bit of research...
Best to do more than a bit. :) You'd do well to read the wiki as suggested and then study some of the threads here. There's a wealth of information in them. The more you know, the greater the chance you'll end up with something that fits your requirements and avoid wasting money and time.

The high-pass filter section of the fdeck will remove any potentially nasty infrasonics. :)
