Orange Terror vs Ampeg SVT CL

Have you heard about the VT-bass that everyone on here raves about, it's a pedal/preamp that can cop the svt tone almost like the real thing.
They made an amplifier out of it,

+1 the WA is amazing! & seems to have at least as much headroom as the '500w' LMII ...
I've never been a huge Ampeg guy so I'd lean toward the Terror Bass if you gig a lot.
I have a Sunn 300T (~85lbs) that has been moved from my main gigging amp to my practice space amp just because I can get an awesome tone out of 11lbs. It saves on my back and I can now be loaded in with 2 trips to the van.

Well I think it comes close to a SVT territory. But I'm no expert in that territory.
What I can tell you is I really liked it when I tried it. You turn up the gain and it grinds really, really good. And I was able to crank it and get an Ampeg 6x10 to fart out. So it is plenty loud.
I'm not going to lie. For the price and weight I want one real bad to keep in my trunk as a backup and at home practice amp.

Generally speaking, in my experience and opinion... the Orange gives that nice midrange grind that the SVT does, but without providing the huge low end you get from the SVT. This is not to say the one amp or another is "mid-heavy" or weak in the bass range at all... the both respond well, but the SVT's coil-based midrange allows all that overdriven sweetness without sacrificing true low-end the way that linear distortion has a tendency to do...

I have a SVT CL and the last weekend we went 4 bands to play a festival so we had to economize space i the van. It happened that one of teh bassist had the Bass Terror so everyone played trough it...I must say that onstage it kept the sound very well, deep and beautiful...The P.A. made the walls of the venue feel as an earthquake, but the venue was pretty tiny...I dont know if it will deliver enough headroom in larger venues but for little-mid venues it is highly reccomendable. Even I am tempted to sell the SVT CL and buy one of those...would you do it?
Would I do it? No. I have two SVT-CLs and both are "lifers" for me because the tone they produce is the tone I want. I have other--smaller--amps too that I really like and use a lot but that doesn't mean the SVTs are going anywhere. That's just my preference--and not necessarily yours.
I have a TB1000 with two speak on cables for $800 if you're interested.
Hey thanks for the offering but I found one guy who wants to change his TB500 for my SVT plus some cash in my city. If I do this business my back will be thankful
hiho,I,ve had the SVT and the 8x10 and now use an Orange terror bass 500 with the sp212 cab .
Orange just kicks,headbutts and street fights through the mix and it,s a one lift including bass.
Never found myself lacking grunt and it doesn,t overheat or need a valve factory nearby to keep replacing them.

Yeah, you never see anyone using SVT's anymore. Except for all those many many bassists using SVT's.
If my volume needs could be met by a single 12" speaker, that set up might appeal to me.
